Kedar Massenburg is the former President of Motown Records and President of Universal Records Black Music. He coined the term “Neo-soul and is responsible discovering and signing singers Erykah Badu, D’Angelo and India Arie to their first major recording contracts; along with Chico DeBarge, Damien and Stephen Marley, Kem, Akon and more.

 

Kedar executive produced movie soundtracks: Meet Joe Black, Bamboozled, Stuart Little, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, Rush Hour and Coming to America 2. He’s also the producer and executive produced Loudmouth, the documentary on the life and times of Reverend Al Sharpton, released in 2022.
